Discover the Mesmerizing Underwater World with Scuba Diving

http;//www.scuba-explorers.com/join Scuba Diving Kansas City Facts, Hi Leslie ONeill here with Scuba Explorers. Over the past 27 yr of teaching…one commonly asked question: How deep do you dive & how long are you underwater? We do our deepest dive of the day first…around 100′. I know people say -” That sounds SO deep”. One of the many things students learn on the 2nd day is how far they can swim on one breath. We never hold our breath while scuba diving- but it does seem to ease a persons mind when they know they can reach the surface in the worst case scenario. We do a horizontal swim in the pool. Because of the propulsion of your fins- swimming up from 30′ to the surface is not much different than swimming up from the bottom of a swimming pool. A person that is more physically fit may easily swim from the depth of 100′ on one breath. Where as others not as fit may swim up from about 30′ which is the perfect depth to see some of the most magnificent underwater life. How long we stay depends on how deep we are and your personal air consumption. The deeper we go limits our time at that depth based on the amount of your nitrogen intake. You will learn this detail on the second day of the two day course. Your air consumption depends on your comfort level in the water. You will learn to breathe slowly & deeply while underwater. Nervous people (which by the way is quite normal for new divers) will use more air. Moving your arms like a swim stroke or trying to kick too fast

This form of diving has been attaining its enormous popularity as one of the best recreational sports in the world. Other than providing delight and pleasure; it also provides a number of health-related benefits. Just like other diving forms, scuba diving provides the diver a chance to see the things underneath the water. This form of diving may be done in seas and lakes. Before you can perform this adventurous activity, it is mandatory that you attend a diving class in case, you are a beginner. During this course, you would be taught not only the skills and techniques that are necessary to maneuver when you are under the water but more significantly, you will be also be educated on the appropriate equipment and gears for scuba diving.

This form of diving requires a diver to undergo a proper training and the right equipment as well in order to relish the diving experience and stay safe underwater. One of the most crucial equipment is a diving mask that will allow the diver to take a glance at what exists beneath the feet. It will prevent water from coming in contact with the diver’s eyes. Scuba diving seems to be one of those endeavors that becomes a lifestyle. You live, eat and breathe to dive. If this sounds like you, perhaps you should consider your own dive shop. You get to pursue your passion everyday and share the quality dive experience with others.

Considerations Before Making the Decision to Open a Dive Shop

You wouldn’t jump into unknown waters without first checking your equipment; neither should you jump into becoming a dive operator without doing your homework. Some homework assignments you should complete before making your decision should include:

Do some research on what it takes to start your own business. Successful dive operators either started with a general knowledge base of how to start a business or they took the time to learn. If you are starting with no knowledge (or little) there are resources available. The Small Business Administration (SBA.gov) has a large data bank of information to get you started. The general basics of business apply to any business start up including a dive shop. The Professional Association Of Dive Instructors (PADI) has information about dive operators on their website (padi.com) and more in depth information can be obtained on dive shop start up at your local PADI office (this information is available on the website as well). Study information before making a commitment to pursuing opening a dive shop further.

2. Once you have studied the information; take a personal inventory. Ask yourself questions such as: Do I have the time, money, access to resources (like start up money) to open a dive shop? Do I still want to make this kind of commitment? Only you can answer these questions and ultimately make the decision that you are passionate about having a dive shop.

Once You Have Decided To Open A Dive Shop

If you are still passionate about opening your own dive shop; don’t try to reinvent the wheel. You can draw from other dive operators and their experiences. You may even want to consider purchasing an existing dive shop. This can save you a lot of time and frustration rather than starting from scratch. If you will be starting a new dive shop; you will need to formulate a business plan. Your local small business enterprise incubator offers a wealth of assistance and guidance with this and many other tasks associated with business ownership.

Here is a list of some tips from other dive operators on opening your dive shop.Be sure to have your instructional details in order prior to opening; such as who will your instructors be, where will classroom training take place (pool/open water), what courses and programs will you offer; what packages will be availableDo not strive to offer the lowest prices. The best dive operators offer quality dive instruction for a reasonable and fair price.Continue your pleasure dive pursuits outside of operating your dive shop so you do not lose your enthusiasm and enjoyment of diving.Treat your customers in a friendly manner and share your passion for diving. Remember diving has the ability to change people’s lives when taught properly.Don’t base your dive shop in what competing dive shops are doing. If you offer quality services, instruction and products that people want at a fair price, you will gain repeat customers for life.

Opening a dive shop can give you the opportunity to live a dream doing something you are passionate about. Other dive operators have reaped the benefit of being their own boss, sharing diving with others and being proud of what they do. Give a dive shop some thought and consideration to see if it might be right for you.

Extreme Vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains

Blaarrg Nuhhharg
Video Rating: 5 / 5

Article by Shelia Ogle

For some, rest and relaxation might be the goal, but if your vacation dreams involve more than a beach chair and a good book, then a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains is in order. Satisfy your craving for adventure with an invigorating look at the mountains from high in the trees, or test your nerve on the newest roller coaster to call Dollywood home. Thrill seekers of all ages will find something to love about their Great Smoky Mountain vacation.

Not Just Another Hike in the Wilderness

A simple walk in the woods might be fine for some, but if excitement and exhilaration is more your style, don’t miss a chance to get a bird’s eye view of the Great Smoky Mountains. Ziplines crisscross this vast wilderness, and offer a glimpse at some of the most stunning scenery you’ll ever encounter.

Strap on a harness and helmet, and soon you’ll be soaring through the treetops at breathtaking speed. Pause for a minute high atop a Hemlock while you snap a photo of the picturesque valley spread out below. Then stow your gear, because it’s time to be off on the next leg of your amazing zipline tour. Whether you’re a rookie or an old pro, ziplines offer one of the most exciting ways to see the scenery.

Fly Like an Eagle

If the zipline put you in the mood for speed, you’ll want to make Dollywood your next stop. Pigeon Forge’s favorite family fun spot is adding to its collection of heart-stopping thrill rides in 2012, with the addition of Wild Eagle, the country’s first “wing” coaster.

Take a seat on the wings of this giant eagle as it takes flight over the park. You’ll plunge into a 200-foot dive before swooping into a series of corkscrew turns that will leave you breathless. Skim over the trees and wave to your friends on the ground before coming in for a landing. If you’ve ever dreamed of flying like a bird, the Wild Eagle is your chance to soar.

No Parachute Required

Have you ever thought you might like to try skydiving? In Pigeon Forge, TN, you’ll get your chance – and you won’t even have to rent a plane. Grab your helmet and step inside the vertical wind tunnel at Flyaway Indoor Skydiving for a three-minute trip to the virtual clouds. Close your eyes and imagine the earth far below as the rush of wind keeps you afloat, or try your hand at a few acrobatic maneuvers. Coaching sessions are even available if you’d like to use your new skills in a real skydive. And don’t worry, there’s no experience necessary to enjoy this adventure.

If you thought all Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN had to offer were nature walks and outlet malls, you’re in for a treat. There’s plenty of exciting entertainment for thrill seekers of every age. Whether you’re looking for a unique way to enjoy the great outdoors, a ride on a world-class roller coaster, or an unusual skydiving trip, one thing is certain: you’ll need to take a few days to rest up after this vacation.

Planning your visit? Contact Heartland Rentals today for a wide selection of Gatlinburg cabin rentals in all sizes and prices. Click to http://www.HeartlandRentals.com for info and reservations. © 2012, All Rights Reserved

Smith Mountain Lake Vacations In The Heat of Summer

2011
Video Rating: 5 / 5

Article by E.S. Cromwell

It’s that time of year when temperatures soar to scorching levels, people come out of their homey shells and spirits become a thing most lifted and celebrated. And it’s all because summer has finally arrived. With it’s presence comes a distinct playfulness that most everyone annually looks forward to and openly embraces. But, what also comes with this hot and activity-filled season is the anxiousness to get away from it all, to kick back, to gear up and just simply, have a great time away from the comforts of what we know best, which is home.

It’s Just Simply All About Vacationing

Vacationing is a summer staple, just as is having cookouts with friends and family, or enjoying humid days and evenings and, of course, seeking waterholes or friends’ pools to cool off and have some splash-around-fun in for a while. Summer is improvisation in the heat. It’s about being a kid again, having no plans, yet making them as you go. And it all takes a summer swagger to pull off. As it is, the whole point of getting away on vacation is to have one thing in mind ?” doing what you will. Doing what you want, when you want and however it is that you want to do that non-descript thing are the unwritten rules of summer. And that’s the beauty of going on vacation during the summer season ??” there are a wide-range of options. Everything from thrills, calms and everything in between can be had while on vacation.

The Question Is ??” Where Should This Vacationing Take Place?

And the answer is one all dependent on exactly what you desire out of your vacationing experience. If you’re looking for a typical vacation spot that usually has some tourist-like attractions tied into it, you can easily find that ??” they’re all over the place, nationally and internationally wide. But, if you’re more the type who is interested in getting away from it all and truly placing yourself in an environment that can allow to escape, simply relax and even have a bit of fun, it might be worth your while to look into the vacationing offers Smith Mountain Lake has to offer.

Smith Mountain Lake Vacations Have Natural Undertones

So, you’re more inclined to go on a vacation that is not of the tourist type and more so a thing of enjoying the offer of escapism. Well, Smith Mountain Lake is a great place to seek. Being that this natural haven, of sorts, is nestled in between the Blue Ridge Mountains and proves to be a place to both take it easy by the lake and even get a little rowdy in and off shore, you can be certain you’ll have broad vacationing activity options.

And, especially if you’re a fan of being in a pristine natural environment during the hot, arid summer season, Smith Mountain Lake can offer you -and your family- so much opportunity in terms of activity and leisurely options. Camping, hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, biking, golf and so much more is all within the realm of fulfilling possibility and around the region of Smith Mountain Lake.

And with summer finally upon us, it’s really not a bad idea to take your summer aspirations and research the possibility of Smith Mountain Lake vacations. Do so, and you’ll be starting the process of enjoying your summer away from it all however you’d prefer.

The Tetons first received government protection in 1897 when Congress created the Teton Forest Reserve out of land not included in Yellowstone National Park. In 1929, the central peaks of the Teton Range and a half dozen lakes at their base officially became Grand Teton National Park. In the mid-1930s John D. Rockefeller, Jr. bought 35000 acres of property next to the park. In 1943 the Jackson Hole National Monument was created with a 221000 acre tract of valley lands around the Snake River. By 1950 the original 1929 park was united with the 1943 Jackson Hole National Monument to create the present day 485 square mile park. The Tetons, rising abruptly from the floor of the Snake River Valley, are fault block mountains with their origin about 13 million years ago. Elk and pronghorn antelope make annual migrations through the park. Moose are seen around the Snake River wetlands and mountain lakes. Black bear and grizzlies roam the mountain slopes and wooded lake shores. The park has five campgrounds with 200 miles of trails to explore.
